Chris is Co-Founder of ADEMS (Adult Diabetes Education and Management Support Group), a volunteer organization which has grown to be the single largest diabetes support group in Nevada. He is committed to all things diabetes, and has served on the NDACA (Nevada Diabetes Association for Children and Adults) board of directors, is a member of the Nevada Diabetes Counsel, and has been a member of the planning committee for DCAF (Diabetes in Children and Families) support group since 1999, and (NEAD) Nevada Educators Association for Diabetes member. In 2005 and 2010, he assisted in the planning and drafting of the State of Nevada Diabetes plan. Winner of the prestigious March of Dimes Nurse of the year award 2003 for critical care. He is co-recipient of a United States Senatorial commendation for the ADEMS group and dedication to volunteerism. Recognition by the Mayor of Las Vegas for community work. He is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner specializing in Women's health care and also works as a Surgical Intensive Care Nurse in a local hospital. Since 2002, he has been a Master Trainer for The Stanford University Chronic Disease Program, which has given him a greater insight into the lives of individuals living with chronic diseases. Chris served as Chair of the Nevada Diabetes Council, voluntarily serving the Nevada Diabetes Control and Prevention Program. Chris and his wife, Theresa, are co-recipients of Southern Nevada Public Health Hero Award for 2007. Chris is highly sought after as a speaker and as a resource for many organizations and institutions, for his expertise in diabetes and chronic illnesses, as well as his knowledge about healthcare disparities and diversity. Chris remains committed to diabetes, with special dedication to his late mother, Carolyn, and brother Michael. He lives diabetes through his wife, Theresa, who has Type 1 diabetes, his father and brother who have Type 2 diabetes, along with the whole diabetes community, no matter the type. chrismoore@diabetespowershow.com
