We always emphasize the importance of tight glucose control. So much so, that we tend to become "glucose-centric", forgetting other factors that are as important, or according to today's guest, even more important in our efforts to avoid diabetes-related complications.
Today we welcome Dr. Claude K. Lardinois, an out-of-the-box-thinking endocrinologist, with strong opinions on this subject. Dr. Lardinois has many years of vast experience in treating diabetes, and we are honored that he has accepted our invitation to share some of his thoughts with us today.
Dr. Claude K. Lardinois, aka Dr. Fish Head, (listen to the show to learn more) is Professor of Medicine at the University of Nevada School of Medicine and Graduate Faculty, Nevada Studies in Nutrition, University of Nevada, Reno. He is also Emeritus Faculty Advisor for the Western Medical Student Research Forum. Dr. Lardinois is board certified in internal medicine, endocrinology, and geriatrics. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a Fellow of the American College of Nutrition. Dr. Lardinois' research interests include work in diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidemia. He is especially interested in the role of nutrition in diabetes management. He serves on the Board of Directors of the American College of Nutrition as well as an Associate Editor of the Journal. Dr. Lardinois has won several teaching awards from medical students and residents. He has given numerous clinical and scientific presentations and has written several peer reviewed articles. Dr. Lardinois is also an avid beer can collector with over 6,000 cans on display at his house !!!
