I am 36 years old and I have had type 1 diabetes since I was 2 years old. I have had the pleasure of being one of Chris's patients at Valley many times. I'm gad I'm not here now! I hate the hospital but it has become a part of my life and my families. I'm hoping to hear from Chris or his wife to discuss a few new items. I also want to say.....we will beet this and everyone hang tuff and keep up all of your hard work!

I was diagnosed as T2 in May of 2008. Since then it has been an uphill battle. Diet and exercise are the keys for type 2 control. I was so disappointed when I looked for a doctor in Las Vegas that treats diabetes and was on my health care plan. Is there anywhere that we can look for good diabetic doctors here in Las Vegas???

I was told I had diabetes the end of June of 2009. I am now on insulin shots and diabetes pills. But my blood sugar is still high. My wife has cut out the sugar and salt in my diet, but it still seems to stay over 200 most of the time. I am 81 years old. Does my age play a part in this. I drank quite a lot of beer in my day, but had cut that down to one or two beers a day before I was told by the hospital that I was a diabetic. I have brought my weight down ti 195 lbs. and i am approx. 6ft.1in. Is this to much weight for me to carry?

Saw your article in Las Vegas Review Journal and your are correct, the patient has to take control. My doctor all he cared for was keeping me on insulin when I complained about weight he said go for surgery. Well I left that Board Certified Endo Dr. and went back to my primary card doctor, who directed me to take off weight. So far I have taken off 25 lbs still have 20 to go, have gone off Novolog 3 times a day, next going off Lantus but only when my long terms is stable and my daily blood is around 90. So the moral of my story is You got to take control. You are doing well by informing people.
