Theresa Moore (Type 1) BSN,RN

Theresa has been living with Type 1 diabetes since the age of twelve, and has been dedicated to all things diabetes since that time. She is Co-Founder of ADEMS (Adult Diabetes Education and Management Support) group, which has grown to be the largest support group in the state of Nevada. Theresa has also been an important resource in DCAF (Diabetes in Children and Families) support group, where she has run the teen support section for the last eight years, along with their holiday party and their diabetes fair. She has also been a camp counselor for the Nevada Diabetes Camp, known as Camp Buck. She is a recipient of the prestigious March of Dimes Emergency Nurse of the Year 2003. She has also received a United States Senatorial Commendation for volunteerism and dedication to ADEMS. She received recognition from the Mayor of Las Vegas for community support. She is a member of NEAD (the Nevada Educators Association for Diabetes), board director of NDACA (Nevada Diabetes Association for Children and Adults). Theresa is co-recipient, along with her husband, Chris, of Southern Nevada Public Health Hero Awards for 2007. She currently works as an Emergency Room Nurse in a local hospital. She has been a Master Trainer for the Stanford University Chronic Disease Program since 2002, which has helped participating class members understand that anyone living with a chronic disease can still live a happy and healthy life. Theresa remains dedicated to diabetes. Although she lives with it on a daily basis, she feels she may be able to help the one person having difficulty with diabetes cope and live a prosperous life. theresamoore@diabetespowershow.com
